Are you a business owner who wants to increase your customer/clients/patients numbers by spending far less on advertising and capitalising on the latest trends in marketing?
Let’s face it -the days of traditional advertising are long gone – who uses the Yellow Pages anymore and who reads the newspaper classifieds?
The automatic answer is online marketing for your business marketing. But this is like saying “you need to advertise your business” – what does it mean? What works? How should I go about it? What should my marketing strategy be? What should be on my marketing plan?
At 8km Marketing we specialise in local business marketing - our whole focus is “helping our clients getting more clients”. We do this by ensuring our clients “get found where and when their real prospects are looking”. This statement is important – too often and with most traditional advertising so much money and effort is wasted by casting the advertising net as widely as possible.
At 8km we believe in focussing your marketing effort and valuable marketing budget. Did you know that for most businesses over 80% of their client base will come from an 8km radius of their business premises?” Hence our name 8km Marketing.
The implications of this are large. You can and should localise your marketing as much as possible and this is where technology provides such a great opportunity for local businesses. It also is a threat if you do not embrace it for many others are – be sure you do before your competitors get onto it.
What is a “local business”? Any business with a “physical presence really – note that this does not restrict these to “small businesses” only. A local business includes retailers, restaurants, hair salons, tradespeople, dentists, motor repairs, accountants and so on. You can see it is a wide variety of businesses! Basically if your business tends to serve a geographically based community it is a “local business”.
These days people search for business services in their local area on their personal computer and increasingly on their mobile phones or tablets. Google and other search engines have latched on to this and in fact give businesses that are properly listed in on-line directories (including Google Places, Yellow Pages on-line, and True Local) ahead of businesses with big budget websites.
This is an exciting opportunity for local businesses and small businesses today because it means if done properly big marketing budgets on great websites and SEO are not as important as being smart about how you are represented on-line in the directories.
That is where we come in.
First and foremost we are business experts who happen to understand and know marketing for small businesses really well. We have carried out exhaustive research and developed some great tools to get your business found by real prospects when they are looking to buy.
This means you don’t have to waste hundreds and thousands of dollars “casting the net as wide as you can” in print advertising and hoping a real prospect will find you. Nor does it require spending thousands by having someone doing “search engine optimisation” for your business.
Using technology smartly you can be found at the exact time they are looking to give you (or your competitors) business.
This is incredibly inexpensive but you have to know what you are doing. Added to that it takes more than a few technology wizards to say “we will get you to the top of Google”. No, it takes experienced business people to combine off-line and on-line marketing efforts in a really smart way.
The origins of 8m Marketing extend back to over eight years ago.
It was at this time that 8km’s founder, Tim Boyle set up his own consulting business following a successful corporate career to focus on profit improvement for small and medium sized businesses.
He did this to fulfil two passions. Firstly to help business owners directly to change their lives through achieving business success and secondly to continue his focus on business profit improvement.
Tim discovered that for most small and medium businesses the bottom line (profit) challenge was really a top line (revenue, sales) challenge. What businesses really needed was a marketing system to generate consistent and growing business revenues. Only once this is achieved can a business really grow profitably and consistently.
Tim has extensive experience in advising businesses of all shapes, sizes, and industries to grow profitably.
In the last eight years he has specialised in small and medium businesses as his biggest thrill is seeing business owners truly transform their businesses successfully beyond what they believed possible. This positively impacts on all areas of their lives.
In fact several of his clients know him as “the profit guy” and even the “profit guru”!!
He has two consulting businesses focussing on this areas: Finalytics (www.finalytics.com.au) and the BizProfitClub (www.bizprofitclub.com).
Tim established 8km Marketing from this background and doing extensive research on current small business marketing and local business marketing and technology trends. He immediately saw how bringing these together could add immense value to business owners.
He believes marketing has to be integrated into the business management to be most effective and profitable – the end goal of any business function.

We have designed 3 types of packages for clients to choose from. The objective, investment, and marketing intensity ascends for each.
We have designed each so that the upfront investment is modest and the monthly investment ensures we are continually working with you to maintain and improve your visibility.
Each package really represents a marketing programme for your business as we work with you on an ongoing basis.
Additionally we also develop websites for clients in a very smart way. We do not believe in spending thousands of $$$ upfront for a site and then having to get it “optimised” for more cost. We have packages that cost less than $200 upfront and then consistent with how we work, we have a monthly maintenance fee thereafter. You will be pleasantly surprised how little you can have a great site for.
Better yet by combining the website package with one of our marketing packages we put it all together and work with you to deliver a complete solution.

Our business marketing system is designed to get full coverage and exposure for your business.
Our on-line marketing system is comprehensive and ensures the search engines have to “trip over” your business in as many places as possible thereby raising their prominence in their rankings.
We start off by analysing the key words prospects are likely to use when looking for your business and assess what and how your competitors are doing their promotion.
From there it is a matter of inundating and coordinating all possible avenues of your on-line presence. Without going into the technical details this is a comprehensive, proven, and highly effective marketing system of your business.
“The 8km system is so effective I found myself having to pick up the pace just to keep up with the customers I was now getting.
I expected their system to work well, but not this well!
We had only started up for less than a month and because of what Brennan and 8km had set up I was getting emails requesting bookings that I had to divert to our Lilydale salon as I simply could not respond to them!
They say they “get clients for their clients” – I see what they mean.”
Gemma Snow – Owner / Director Linea Hairdressing Healesville
“At first I was a bit sceptical if 8km’s system would really work to bring new clients in to my business. However within a few weeks I could tell the system was definitely having a positive impact.
The phones are definitely ringing more. The best bit is that I don’t have to go looking for the new clients. They are coming to me!
Their system works so well I shifted all my online marketing over to them. Website and all!
They say they get more clients for their clients. It has certainly worked for me.”
Mick Tropeano, Owner, Blackburn Automotive
“Since trying 8km Marketing’s services a few months ago the number of new people contacting my business and becoming clients has certainly increased.
To be honest I don’t quite know what they do but no doubt I have more clients and my business is going great.”
Andrea Sparkes, Owner, Protege Hair, Mont Albert North.
“Initially 8km Marketing were helping me to “be seen” online, putting up my business on local directories and uploading my business reviews to them.
The response I had was remarkable; I had people continually saying “gee you have some great reviews”.
The 8km team have always gone the extra mile and nothing is ever a problem or too much to ask. I could not recommend Brennan and the team any higher!
They have been an amazing help and always “done what it takes” to make it all come together!”
